Home of the famed New York Panorama and inhabiting the former site of two New York World’s Fairs, the Queens Museum of Art in Flushing Meadows is due for a facelift. The renovation designed by Grimshaw Architects with prime consultant Ammann & Whitney, is scheduled to be finished in 2013 and will double the museum’s floor space.

From Change Observer:

Representing this special place means highlighting its productive differences, and now the QMA is expanding. “We want to up the ante as a museum, and at the same time up the ante as a community facility. We take the words ‘Queens’ and ‘Museum’ equally seriously,” explains executive director Tom Finkelpearl.
