NYT Reviews The Met’s New Website

Yes! Finally a home run in the museums-on-the-internet front. The Metropolitan Museum of Art launched a new website featuring interactive maps, suggested itineraries, and an enormous digital catalogue. *birds sing, heavens open*

It is absolutely worth reading Edward Rothstein’s glowing NYT review:

It has laid the foundation for a complete survey of its own collection that will become a public resource, while accepting the limits of that accomplishment by championing the aesthetic power of the art object. And it has devised an interlocking network of ideas and information, while recognizing that a great museum can also create a network of allusions and experiences in each of its galleries, promising unbounded possibilities with bricks as well as bits.

But you should explore the site on your own!
